We LOVE baptisms!

My handsome missionary!

Hello everyone

Hola familia,
how is everyone doing this week? I hope that you are all doing great. This week wasn´t as busy as the last couple but it was a good week. We had a baptism on Saturday and it was really good. Her name is Susana Mendez. She is about 50 years old and it was a good baptismal service, it was kind of funny because her grandson baptized her and he just barely was ordained a priest and he is a little skinny guy and Susana is a bigger lady. He couldn´t get her to go all the way under the water. It wan´t his fault because she wouldn´t let herself fall she would go stiff and then he couldn´t get her to go under the water. So he tried like 4 times and finally they had her just like squat down and put her head between her legs. It was pretty funny i hadn´t ever seen a baptism like that but it works. The work is starting to pick up now it was a little rough the first couple of weeks. Paysandú is a great area and it has a lot of potential we are just trying to change it right now and it is looking really good. The missionaries are working hard and they are having some good success. Our goal for this month is 22 baptisms and we have the people to reach the goal we just have to give them all baptismal date an keep working hard. We have our sector conference this Friday. I am really excited because the President is doing them a little different, he is only doing 2 zones at a time and before we would do 3 to 4 zone all together. so it should be a little more personal and more interaction with all the missionaries. We have the sector conference once a change, also we have interviews and ZLC once a change. So after this week we don´t have any more big meeting until next change. Every Tuesday we have a district meeting with all the missionaries here in p-. So we get to see all the missionaries at least once a week. Next week we are going to go to Argentina and do divisions with the elders over there.
We have 4 elders in Argentina and president wants us to go help them out a little bit. So they gave us our passports and we are going to go visit them. The weather is already starting to warm up it is just sweater weather now. For like two weeks i had to wear my thermal g´s but i think that i won´t have to wear them again this winter. With the whole camera thing how much would it cost to send it down here fed ex because i could buy one here if it would be cheaper. My camera is a sony 8.1 megapixel i will get you the exact product number next week. I love you all i hope that you are going to have a great time at lake powell. Next year i will be there. Did dad pull out of the water the first time? If he didn´t he better practice because i am going to do it the first time. i love you all have a great week and a safe trip.

p.s. tell grandpa kirk i love him and that he has to make it at least 10 more months

Hello another crazy week in Uruguay‏

Hola a todos,

¿Cómo están? I hope that everyone is doing great. I am glad to hear that Jodi’s surgery went fine and that she doesn’t have a blood clot in her lungs that was a bit scary. This week was just about as crazy as the last one but it went by really fast. We had our interviews with President Peterson on Wednesday and they were great. As a ZL you get to have a longer interview with the Pres so it was great. They took a long time because we had to stay there the whole time we couldn’t leave early and go out to work. But afterwards we went out with the APs and got some ice cream so it was worth it. Then on Friday we went down to Montevideo and had out ZLC (Zone Leader Counsel) it was really cool. We talked about the numbers of the mission and what we need to do different to double the baptisms. We are really close to doubling the baptisms since I got here. When I got here we were baptizing 75 or so a month and now we are getting really close to 150. The Hermana Peterson cooked lunch and it was the best lunch that I have had since I have been on the mission. It was so good. So that made this week go by really fast. We have a baptism coming up this weekend a lady named Susana Mendez. She finally is going to get baptized she has been ready for a couple weeks but this week a bunch of her relatives are coming to town so she wanted to get baptized this week. Everything is going great here in P- we have a great zone and they are working hard we are going to have a successful change here in p-dú. Well on a lower note I have some bad news. I broke my camera on accident. Last week we went to the beach and were playing volleyball and soccer and Elder Oswald and I were taking some good pics down by the river and my camera fell into the water. Luckily I didn’t loose any pictures or anything but the bad news is I need to buy a new one. So I was thinking that I could just buy one here but I think they are a little more expensive. I found another Sony like the one that I have right now it is a little newer but it is like 400 dollars. I don’t know what we will want to do you could take all the money I have in my account and put it into my checking so I could buy that one. Or there is an Elder that is going home in 3 months and his parents are coming to pick him up so you could send it with them. I don’t know what you will want to do but if you think of any ideas write them to me next week. For now I am going to put all the pictures that Elder Oswald takes on my thumb drive so no hurry. I love you all have a great week. I hope that everything goes great with Golf and Camp. Work hard and have fun I love you all.

Howdy a Todos

hello everyone,
How is everyone doing this week? This week has been one of the most hectic weeks of the mission so far. I got here to P- Tuesday night and I had Elder Oswald waiting for me, but two of the elders in our zone got robbed and lost their luggage, but luckily they only took the bags and not the clothes so we have been on the house hunt this last week and working with the offices of the mission and the people here to try to get them into a new house. It is so much fun being comps with Elder Oswald we are having so much fun, we get along great it is like we are brothers. But some of the responsibilities that we have as ZLs is take numbers, direct the district meetings, get the bolsa, do divisions with other elders, go to ZLC (zone leader conference) and he the best example for the rest of the missionaries. Paysandú is a lot bigger than bella union and we live in a sick house. We live with 4 other elders for now until we get the other elders into their new house. But you don´t need to worry about me living in bad conditions for at least 3 months. The area is really tranquilo and the people are great. There is a lot of work to do here. The ward is quite small there were only 30-40 people at church i wouldn´t be surprised if they actually combined a couple of the wards to make a real ward that qualifies to be a ward.that sucks that you about cut your finger off mom. be careful. i bet you are going to have a lot of fun up at camp with all the girls of the stake. How is our ward doing? i haven´t heard anything lately about the wars. there are a lot of places that i could buy clothes here in p- but yes i bought a pair the other day in salto, so for right now you don´t have to worry about it. Thanks for all the love and support that you all give me i appreciate it a lot. i hope that everyone is doing great and they are working hard. que tengan una buena semana y que disfruten el sol porque hace mucho frio acá. les amo mucho hasta la semana que viene

Changes

Hola a todos,
How is everyone doing? This week just like everyweek went by extrimely fast. I did divisions with the zone leaders in salto and the any week that you have divisions goes by really fast. Well we got changes today and i am leaving Bella Union. Elder Arnett is staying with a another really young Elder. But you are all going to freak when i tell you what is happening with me……….I am going to be a Zone Leader in Paysandú with Elder Oswald. It is going to be so much fun. I never thought that we would be comps but it is going to happen. I found out today and when i heard what was going to happen i thought they were lying to me but it is for real. I can´t wait to be his comp, we are going to have so much fun leading the troops in p-. I have loved the time that i have spent here in Bella Union. I am going to miss the area, the members, and our investigators. we have this investigator that we just gave a baptismal date the other day that was a pretty cool story. We have been teaching him for like a month and a half or more and he was progressing great, he would go to church every week and was keeping all the commitments but he wanted to know everything about the church before he got baptized. So we had taught him almost all the lessons except tithing and he still said that he wanted to know a lot more. So we went to visit him and taught him tithing and after we got done we told him that we had taught him all the things he needed to know to get baptized and he said he would pray about it. Well he is getting baptized on Saturday but that is great for Elder Arnett and his new comp get them started off on the right foot.I am kind of bummed that i won´t be with Elder Arnett for another change but they say in the mission that if you are with your son for two changes it is because he didn´t learn everything that he needed to. So i guess he learned everything. He is a great Elder and is going to be a future leader here in the mission. That is so funny that Ali and Taylor hiked Mt. Olympus . Elyse and i are going to hike it and beat there time. Because you all know how i am everything is a competition. I love you all thanks for all the support and everything that you do for me. Work hard and keep having fun. I love you all until next week.

One of the things Taylor misses the most...duck hunting.

Elder Arnett (Taylors Comp) and Elder Tate chopping wood as service for one of the families in the are. No wonder he got a blister, he was using a machete!

The baptism Elder Tate and Elder Arnett had on the 11th of July. The name of the person who was baptized is Alarico. What a great day!!!

Whats up Everyone- July 13th 2009

Hello everyone,
How is everyone doing this week? This week went by really fast it seems like i got done writing you last week. A lot has happened since the last week when i wrote. First of all we had a baptism last Saturday. Alarico Larrosa got baptized it was a cool story he is 84 years old. It was funny because we started to talk about baptism and he said that he was going to wait until summer to get baptized because he thought that we were going to do the baptism in the river Uruguay. He didn´t know that we did the baptisms in the church. Missionaries had talked to him over 3 years ago and they left him a Libro de Mormón but he never progressed and they stopped visiting him. We found him like a month and a half ago and he said that he had read the Book of Mormon 2 times all the way through. He went to church 3 times and was baptized last Saturday. Really it was a huge miracle for my comp and i we have worked really hard and we are just starting to see the fruits of our work. It is getting really cold up in Bella Union and i still haven´t used the scarf. The weather is really cold in the mornings but it heats up by mid-day and then it feels really good. We went and did service with one of the families in the area and we cut wood. I got the biggest blister on my hand from cutting wood with an ax. It was really fun to do it but we paid the price afterwards. Our investigators are progressing great the area is in a lot better shape now than when i got here almost tow changes ago. Next week we have changes again and i think that i will be going but i will tell you next week so i might e-mail on Tuesday next week but write me like you normally do cause i probably will still do e-mail on Monday.Hey Mom a couple people in the ward have asked for a recipe for corn bread could you send me your recipe? I love you all thanks so much for the e-mails i´m glad that you got to take the boat out for the first time. Dad did you pull out of the water the first time? If not you better practice you have got a summer to get it perfected. Work hard and have fun i love you all have a great week. Que pasen bien.

Chao Elder Tate

p.s. My pants are dropping like flies, i´m going to buy a couple here in Salto today could you put some money in my account. Thanks. I think they are like 40$ each.

Hello Everyone

Hola todos,
¿Cómo están? How is everything going back home. How was the 4th of july i can´t belieive that it has already been one year since i was in the MTC watching the fireworks at the stadium of fire. It really is crazy how fast the time goes by. Well sorry i couldn´t write you all yesterday we had interviews with President Peterson in the house here in Bella Union. He came up to inspect the house. We passed. We spent a lot of time cleaning and just organizing the house, but it needed it. So we just got back from Alur. It is a sugar factory here in Bella Union and one of our investigators works there and he took us to see it. It really was pretty cool i don´t have the cords with me to send pictures today but next week i will send some pics. It is kind of funny because everyone that live here works with the sugar cane. Either in the factory or the cut the cane by hand and haul it out on the shoulder. It looks like it would be really hard work. How is little Cole doing? You need to send me some more pictures cause the first ones i saw him but you know how it is right after they come out. They have been jam packed for 9 months and they are all little alien lookin. Does he look like Aaron or Jodi? So the work is going pretty good here we are working our tails off and we are starting to see the blessings. The weather is so crazy here. Today it is way hot and humid and last Saturday we walked around freezing the whole day. It can´t really make up it´s mind if it wants to be hot or cold. We might get bikes here in the area. Yesterday i asked president and he said that we need to write him a letter and he would ask to see if we can. But with my luck i will leave and the next change they will get bikes. Today when we went to see the factory we went on the back roads and there was a little lake and we drove by and 20 ducks took off and it had to be one of the most trunky moments in the mission. I can´t wait to go huntin. I love you all so much thanks for everything that you all do for me. Keep up the good work work hard and have fun. It is the trick to life. I love you all. Elder Tate

Skinny Elder!

Elder Tate has really enjoyed his work-out time in the morning. It is awesome he is so motivated! This is a picture he sent showing us how much he has lost since he has been out. Way to go Tay, lookin' good!!!

Letter from Elder Tate!

Hey familia,

How is everyone doing this week? Things are going great here in Bella Union. I am glad to here that everything is going awesome with Cole. Yes i got the pics that you sent of him. He looked like a pretty big boy but i don´t know if the pics made him look like that. How much longer will he be in the hospital? I can´t believe that this Saturday is the 4th of July, i remember being in the MTC and watching the fireworks last year the time has really gone by fast.
About the whole scarf thing don´t worry about sending anything down to me it is fine. By the time i got here it would already be warm. The weather is changing down here the people have told me that 15-20 years ago there were 4 seasons but now there are only two. Really it is true because i got here in august and it was cold and by September it was warm so there is only 2 more months of cold weather and then it will just be hot the whole time.
That is cool that you have all of these oportunidades to serve in the temple. I really miss the temple i hope i can go soon. Mom are you going on the young women's camp out? Did you get another calling? Have fun, that is one thing that i do miss a lot is the outdoors. I can´t wait to go camping again.
We had two investigators in church yesterday and they are progressing really good. We should have had a couple more but one of them her mom died so she was with her family the whole time. But we are teaching this man named Alarico, he is an older man but it is cool because the missionaries taught him along time ago but he didn´t progress and they dropped him but they left the Book of Mormon with him. And the other day we found him and he has read the Book of Mormon twice all of it!!! I asked him what was his favorite part and he told me the part about Captain Moroni. It was really cool and he is progressing great.
I love you all have fun watching the fireworks on the 4th of july. Just think next year i will be there to watch them with you all. I hope that everything is going great and that you are all having fun. I love you have a great week. Chao

Congrats Aaron y Jodi

Hey family,
That is amazing that i am an uncle again. Congratulations Aaron and Jodi that is so cool the Tate name goes on!!! To bad he wasn´t born on the 18th because that was my year mark!!! It is amazing that time has gone by so fast. I really can´t believe it that i will have a little nephew that is a year old when i get home that i haven´t ever seen. That is really cool about the stake presidency they are all great men. So President Metcalf will release me that will be cool. This last week was really cool. We had a conference with Elder Bowen, the president of the area sur America sur. It was unreal it helped me so much as a missionary. He talked about who we are. The work is going really well here in Bella Union. Yesterday we had 7 people in church it was awesome. I hope that all of them will be able to get baptized in a couple of weeks. Elder Arnett and i have a lot in common. We have the same personality, sense of humor, we both love sports, we listen to the same music, he hunts i don´t know we just get along great. We are really close friends.I got the package that you sent me with Elder Pierce´s dad. It was cool because i just happened to be in Salto on divisions and i remembered that Elder Pierce was in Salto visiting with his dad and i called him because he bought a cell phone and they came and delivered the package. It was great i loved everything in it besides one thing……….the scarf. You all know that i am not going to wear that. It looks so gay when the missionaries wear them. I always make fun of them and say somos misioneros de la Iglesia de Jesucristo with a lisp. Other than that it was great. I am going to send some pics of some food i ate and my new comp. I love you all you are the best, i will keep Cole in my prayers. Keep up the great work and have a lot of fun. I love you all chao.
Elder Tate

p.s. i don´t care where we going hunt next year i think it would be fun to hunt elk where we go with Mark but i don´t care where we go to hunt deer. Where ever we are going to kill something.

Hello Everyone

Hola familia,
How is everyone doing? Everything is going great here in Bella Union. This last week went by really fast and i can´t believe that it is already my year mark in the mission. This week is going to go by just as fast if not faster because i am doing divisions with the zone leaders until Thursday and on Thursday we are going to paysandú for our sector conference. I hope that i don´t miss the bus this time. Elder Bowen is coming to the conference and it is going to be amazing. So it is so much fun having a new Elder in the mission. His name is Elder Arnett. He is from Walla Walla Washington. He is such a stud i can´t believe that i got so lucky to have him as my comp. It has been so much fun it is amazing because he already speaks Spanish. Well he learned a lot in the MTC in Argentina. We are having so much fun together it really is amazing how much we have in common. Really we are like the same person. I don´t have my camera with me or i would send a couple of pics but i will send some next week. My pants just wore out the fabric is really thin and finally it just wore through. So if you could just put a couple of dollars in the account so that i can buy some new ones. Other than that my clothes are holding out really well. My shirts are pretty off white but they still look good.So i sent a package home with Elder Pierce and i should be getting there in a couple of weeks. I gave him our house number and Elyse´s cell number the package is for everyone so you can both go together and meet Elder Pierce he is such a stud i love that kid.Other than that everything is going normal here in the Guay. I hope that everything works out well with Jodi´s pregnancy i will keep her in my prays. I love you all have fun and work hard. Have you taken the boat out yet? Just have it hitched up in a year from now. I love you all.

I'm such a bad girlfriend!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I have been so neglectful on Taylor's blog! I will not let this happen again. Taylor is doing awesome and is loving the mission. He always has such a great attitude and a love for the work he is doing. In the e-mail we got last week, he really didn't explain the title of his e-mail, but what he means is that he is now a trainer and in the mission a trainer is called the "Dad." There is a lot of missionary lingo that I didn't know existed but I'm learning. :) I'm so excited for this new Elder that is starting his mission because he gets the best companion, Elder Tate! More info to come tomorrow.... gotta love Mondays!

It's a Boy.... I'm going to be a Dad!

Hello everyone,
How has your week been? i can´t believe that it is already change week. the time is really flying by. well i have some news....i don´t know who my next companion is. i have to go down to Montevideo to pick him up on Wednesday. i will be his first comp in the mission field. i´m kind of nervous to train but it is going to be an awesome experience. so i will send you all the information next Monday. but i am staying here in Bella union so that is a good thing. the work is going really well so it should be a great area to train a greeny or oro is what they are called here in the mission.last week i did divisions with the zone leaders down in salto it was really fun. i stayed in the same house as Elder Oswald for 4 days. i had a really cool experience down there. we ended up at a members house and they were watching their 5 month old grandson and all the sudden he started to have a seizure and it went into panic mode in the house. they were getting ready to go to the hospital and i just got the idea to give him a blessing so Elder Tyler and i gave him a blessing and by the end of the blessing he stopped and they took him to the hospital anyway and everything was perfectly fine. i just amazed me how the Lord put us in that house at the right time to help. it was amazing.we went down to salto for p-day last week and it was a lot of fun that is the thing that kind of stinks about being so far away from everyone, we can´t really be part of the zone activities. also i sent home a package with Elder Pierce so you should be getting a call in a couple weeks he is going to bring it by the house or you will meet up with him somewhere. oh another thing one of my pairs of pants got ruined the other day. i blew out the butt and it is unfixable so i am going to buy some in salto so if you could just make sure my account doesn´t get to low because i just took our some money the other day to send home the package. in the package i send home some slipper thing and some alfajors the candy here and some dulce de leche you are going to love it.the weather has cooled off for real this time it is pretty cool but i am in heaven. i love you all and i am so grateful for everything that you do for me. keep up the good work and keep enjoying the sun. i love you all

No Changes

Hola familia,

¿Cómo andan? Everything is going great here in Dolores. We had a good week this last week it flew by. We had our sector conference in pysandú on Wednesday so we had to travel which was fun. We almost missed the bus Wednesday morning but we made it. What happened is we had to go and sleep with other missionaries at their house and they forgot to set the alarm and we woke up 9 minutes before the bus left, we got dressed and ran the whole way and we got there 2 minutes before it left. I didn´t have my tie on or my belt but i had them with me. It was so funny. Then we had an activity with the ward on Friday night it was pretty fun. But then we had a baptism on Saturday. Jesus and Axel got baptized. I sent some pictures of them. It was really cool the story about Jesus. We found him knocking doors and he listened but was really shy and didn´t say much and when we got there the next visit he had read all the folleto and understood everything, but he didn´t really want to go to church because he didn´t have the custom of going but we invited him and on Sunday he showed up and 3 weeks later he was baptized. We didn´t think he would go to church or anything but he just came and now we are teaching the rest of the family. Incredible! So we got changes and we both are staying here one more change. That is ok with me i love this area the members are helping us a ton and the people are so nice. It will be a lot better this change. I get along with Elder Torres now, we got everything worked out and we are good friends. Elder Torres is the district leader so i will be doing a lot of divisions this change and that makes the time go by a lot faster. This change is going to fly. Happy Birthday Mom! I can´t believe that you are 50 years old. Just think you are ½ of the age of grandpa Kirk. How is he doing by the way? What are you going to do on your birthday? I can´t believe that it is already February that is so crazy. The time just keeps going by faster and faster. I only have one more January on my mission. I called Elder Oswald the other day and he is doing great. His sister should have had her baby by today. We were talking about how he will have a nephew when he gets back and i said the i will have a nephew too. Jodi it is going to be a BOY! I hope that wrestling is going great. How has the team done this year? Any regions champs? I love wrestling i miss it a lot. Our mission is recieving 40 more missionaries within the next 6 months. We have 150 now and we will have 190 so there are a lot of missionaries coming to this mission. I love you all thanks for all the support and love. You are always in my prayers i love you. Have a great week.

Elder Tate

It is hot!

Hola familia,

¿Cómo andan? Todo bien aquí. Changes are this coming week so next week i will be writing on Tuesday. Everything is going great here in the Guay the only thing is it was the hottest week so far. I was sweating so bad. We would go into a house and it felt like i walked into an oven. My arms were sweating i could feel the sweat running down my back but there isn´t anything better than these experiences. Oh we also fasted on Saturday and i was more thirsty than i have ever been in my life. More than during wrestling season when your trying to loose weight. It was horrible that night it was so hot and i just tossed and turned all night. But i made it that is what matters. We had 5 people in the chruch and we will have a baptism this weekend. I hope that all goes well. Things are going good with Elder Torres now. It has been a humbling thing because i have had to step back and realize that not everyone is like me, he has his strengths and i have mine and i have learned a lot from him. But i also have learned some things that i will do different when i am the senor comp. He used to try to boss me around but we got everything figured out. That is cool that those kids are going on their missions i am excited to find out were Ryan is going. That is cool that Taylor has a new car. I hope that the radio doesn´t get stolen out of this one. I can´t believe that Zoe is almost 2 years old that is so crazy. She is becoming a big girl. I won´t even recognize her when i get home and there will be one more. Be thankful for the snow i miss it! Hey mom i thought of some things that you could send me for my b-day. Peanut Butter, some socks brown, gray, and some ankle socks, and maybe some shoe goo. I don´t need the shoe goo right now but i think in a couple months i will be needing it. My hush puppies need a little shoe goo. I love you all and i hope that you are all doing great. Alison only has a couple more months of school. That is so cool, i can´t wait until i can say i only have a couple months left. Thanks for all the love and support. Scripture of the week. Alma 37:44

Hello

Hola Familia,
¿Cómo están? Espero que estén disfrutando el frío porque yo estoy sudando como un cerdo. That is so cool that you got to go down to Tucson I wish I would have been able to go. This last week has gone by so fast I don´t even know what happened. First of all I went to Montevideo to do divisions with Elder Roxas he is such a stud. It is a different type of mission in Montevideo everything is going way to fast. In T- and here in Dolores it is so slow and calm but down there it was a lot different. It seemed like we did 50 contacts in the street everyday but only got to talk to like 10 of them long to share a part of the gospel. But I had a great time. They live in the offices and they live in a lot better conditions than everyone else. They have A/C which was amazing. It is the little things that we take advantage of and forget how lucky we are. Then I got back on Friday and we had our interviews with the president and my interview was awesome. I talk a lot about Elder Pierce but he is from Sandy, Utah. He has been on his mission exactly 1 year longer than I have. So he goes home this summer. I am going to send a package home with him when he goes home. So you will probably meet him this summer that comes. I haven´t really used the gold bold powder at all. I´m not chaffing or anything, I am really grateful for that. Yes I have been putting on the sun screen but only on my face. I don´t know if it does anything but I use it. I don´t really have to worry about the rain for a will, it hasn´t rained in Dolores for a little over a year. They are in a drought here and it is so bad the some of the cows and horses that live out in the fields are starting to die. The area is going really good. We had 6 people in the church and all of them have baptismal dates. It really is a great area. I hope all the people that have date follow through with everything. Just because they have dates doesn´t mean that they are already baptized. I think that I am doing pretty well on supplies but you could send a bottle of solution or 2. One bottle lasts about 2 months and I have 2 left so there isn´t a big rush or anything. I saw the pictures of the snow and I miss it. Did all of the come in one storm or was there snow already. Thanks for everything that you do I really appreciate everything. Oh by the way Zoe is so cute. I like her hair like that a lot. Espero que ustedes tengan una buena semana y trabajen duro y sean felices. Yo amo la misión yo he aprendido mucho en los últimos 7 meses de mi vida.
Les amo.Elder Tate

Howdy

Hola familia,
How are you doing? This week has gone by so fast. First of all the President Peterson wants the Zone Leaders to do divisions for 2 to 3 days and so I was with Elder Pierce for 3 days it was so much fun and I learned a lot. Elder Pierce is like a brother we get along so well and work really hard together I had so much fun. This week I will be going to Montevideo and doing divisions with the Assistants. They picked some missionaries and doing divisions for a week and they called me the other day and now I will be comps with Elder Roxas for a week. It will be a lot of fun. I did divisions with him for my very first time in T-bó he was my ZL. So this week is going to fly also. Tell dad to bear and grin it. That is what he used to tell me when I was younger. Do you think that he is getting them because of the Mountain Dew? If so drink water. That is awesome that he got a muzzleloader for Christmas. That will be so much fun when I get home. That is awesome that you had 31 people at the temple. Are you going to go to the open house of the Draper Temple? That is a sweet Temple. Our area is going really well. We didn´t have all the people in the church this week but they are still doing great. We had a baptism last Saturday. Eduardo Pajes it was sweet because it was a part member family and now it is the whole family. The baptism was sweet there were a lot of people and we had a couple of investigators too. The weather is still HOT, we have to sleep with a fan on and it is still HOT. It reminds me of Lake Powell in August. But hopefully in a month or so it will start to cool down.Dad that is awesome that you are going to Arizona to a Tournament. Is it a huge one? That would have been so much fun. The spiritual thought of the week. You will have to use the Spanish Book of Mormon that Taylor has. In the Guía o sea the topical guide in Spanish under Sacrifice there is a quote by Joseph Smith that is Awesome! Read it and then tell me what you think next week. Taylor can translate it.I love you all. Thanks for all the love and support it means a lot to me. Oh Mom I got the card from Grandma but there wasn´t any money and I haven´t got any others. Tengan una buena semana.
Chao Elder Taylor Tate

Pictures!

I love getting pictures from Taylor! The first picture is of Taylor and his new companion at a baptism of a little boy named Carlitos. The second picture is of Taylor and his new companion Elder Torres. The third picture looks like changes for Taylor. I believe he is on a bus with Elder Pierce heading down to his new area. He looks kind of tired. Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elf is Taylor's Mission President, Presidente Petersen, his wife and son. It was the Mission Christmas party. The last picture is Taylor's favorite family in T-bo. There names are Victor and Miriam Sosa. Miriam always had Taylor and his companion over every Thursday for lunch. Taylor has told me many times how much he loves that family. Elder Tate is doing awesome. It was so good to hear his voice. I loved it. He loves the work he is doing and his testimony and example is a continual strength to me. Love ya Tay!

IT IS HOT!!

Hola Familia,How is everyone doing? GO UTES that is amazing. They are the only team to go undefeated this year. I would have loved to watch that game. The work is going good here in Dolores. We had 8 people in church this week and all of them are progressing really well for now. We will see what happens to them in the next couple weeks but i think that they are all going to keep progressing. That would have been the coolest Jazz game to go to. You got to sit next to the Prophet. That will be an experience that you will never forget. I would have felt the same way. Did the Jazz win? How are they doing this year? Did Taylor wear his jersey or was he dressed up nice? Because knowing him he probable would have wanted to wear the jersey. They weather is getting really hot here. The people say that it is going to get a little hotter in January and then in February or March it will start to go down. But i am one sweaty Elder. That stinks that Dad and Taylor haven´t had a lot of success this year. Hopefully in two years it will be the best that it has ever been. I am having a lot of fun with Elder Torres but it is a lot different being with Latin companion. We get along most of the time but we get to the house late every night and it is starting to drive me nuts, but other than that everything is going great here in the Guay. Sorry i don´t have a tone of time this week there is only one computer to using the cyber and my companion has to use it to. I love you all so much. Thanks for all of the love and support. Scriptures of the week Mosíah 2:22, 41. The only thing that the Lord requires of us. I will send some pictures next Monday. Chao i love you all. Elder Tate I have a little more time so i will write a little bit more. The Holidays are really different on the mission. 1) the way that the people celebrate them. 2) we are here alone in Dolores and we couldn´t go into the zone activity because they didn´t have any buses or anything that day. That stunk really bad. Other than that it was a normal P-day. That is the thing that is the most different is that it is just another day. It isn´t special or anything. But we had a good time. They did fireworks at midnight but that is about all. It was the earliest that i have gone to bed on new years eve that i can think of. p.s. have Alison send me the pictures of the snow thanks

HO HO HO

Hello Everyone, It was so good to talk to you all on Christmas, i loved it. I didn´t get the e-mail that Alison sent of the snow so try to send it again so i can see it next week. I am so jealous that it is snowing in Utah. I love the snow and there is no such thing here. It was a different having Christmas in hot weather. I just doesn´t feel the same, but it was fun. The people here celebrate Christmas at midnight on the 24th. That is the night that all the family gets together and they have a fiesta and there are a lot of fireworks. Well not a lot compared to the U.S. on the 4th of July but for the Guay it was a lot or so the people said. Elder Torres y I got up at midnight to watch the fireworks and eat some ice cream and lamb it was really good. But the best was to talk to everyone on Christmas. I couldn´t believe Zoe she sounded so big. It was really fun to talk with everyone. I had a question for Jodi but i forgot to ask her. The clippers that i have work really good but they are so loud i think something is wrong with them. If you could just ask her what might be the problem. Yes i did get the letter you wrote in the Christmas conference. Thanks so much i´m going to send a picture of that conference. The rest of the week went good. We had 2 people in church which wasn´t the best but we will get some more this next week. It has been so hot and they say that it is just going to get worse in January. But then it is going to be winter here in the Gauy without snow. But it will be good to have a little bit of cold weather. Yes Carlitos counts as a baptism of the missionaries because the family was inactive and then the missionaries came by and not knowing that they were members and they reactivated the family and baptized the little boy. It was actually a really cool story. The little boy is so smart i wish i had a memory like his. Good luck moving all that stuff today i hope that everything goes smoothly. So how is it not being the relief society president? A lot less stress. When is dad going to go hunting again? I can´t wait to go. I miss guns and hunting. Everything is going great here, i hope that everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. I love you all and i am so grateful for all that you do for me. You are always in my prayers. Les amo mucho y tengan un buen ano nuevo. Chao Elder Tate
