Thursday is Christmas
We get to talk this Thursday are you all excited. I can´t believe that it is already Christmas. The time is really flying. Well I´m hear in Dolores and it is a lot different than T-bó. The area is a lot nicer there aren´t as many dirt roads and the overall living conditions are a lot better. But i will admit that i do miss T-bó i loved that place i hope that i get the chance to return during my mission for a sector conference or something. But this area is really good. We had a baptism last Friday. It was really cool a little boy named Carlitos was baptized by his father. Carlitos has already read the Book of Mormon with the pictures and he understood everything he is such a smart kid. The ward here is a lot smaller than the ward in T-bó but it seems to me to be a good strong ward. So my new companion is from El Salvador. I am going to learn a lot of spanish this change it is going to be a lot of fun. We get along really well. He speaks english almost fluently. But we usually speak spanish together. He has three changes more than i do. He started his mission last February so he is almost at his year mark. Can you believe that i already have been gone for 6 months that is crazy the time goes by really fast. It isn´t as hot here in Dolores as it was in T-bó i think that there isn´t as much humidity. I still sweat a ton but what can i do about that. Dolores is just a little city and we are the only missionaries here. We are in the zone of Mercedes but we have to travel 40 minutes to go to district meeting every Tuesday. It is a lot different because we are out here on our own. It is weird to think that it is already christmas i swear that yesterday i was shoveling snow and know i am in a country where there is not any snow or mountains. About the phone call i probably will call you at 11 o’clock in the morning. That will be 4 o’clock here and 3 o’clock in chile. I am will call you from my house and give you the number that you need to call me and then you can call me right back. I can´t wait to here everyone´s voice it is going to be really cool. I hope i hope you don´t think i sound funny or anything but i bet i have a little different accent. We had changes last Tuesday and i left T-bó at 6 and i didn´t sleep at all that night. But now i think i am back to normal Wednesday i about feel asleep during a couple of our lessons. I love you all and can´t wait to talk to you on Thursday at 11 o’clock. Espero que ustedes estén animados. Les amo y les hablaré este jueves. Tengan un buen día. Gracias por todo su amor y apoyo.
Chao,
Elder Tate
I love the Guay
Hola Familia,
How is everyone doing? I can’t believe that it is already to the 6 month mark. Time has really gone by fast. So I bet you are a ready to hear the news. I am leaving this area. I am going to miss it so much. I love the people here in this ward and all of the people that I have had the chance to work with. I am pretty nervous and excited to go. I will be with Elder Torres. Yep that is right I will be with a Latino. So I guess that I will learn the language a lot better. I am really excited to that. I will have to speak Spanish all day. With Elder Hansen and Elder McClellan we didn’t speak a lot of Spanish together only when we were talking to others that didn’t speak English. But I am going to Mercedes that is the department I will be serving in the area called Dolores. I have mixed feelings about leaving but I am excited for a change. My comp is going the offices so they are taking out both of us and Elder Gardner is going to train a new missionary here. I think this area is the best area to train I LOVE THIS AREA. About the phone call I don’t know exactly what is going to happen. I will email you on Monday or I will call you but I probably will email. I am 5 hours in front of you so do you want me to call in the morning in Utah or the afternoon? I can probably do either. I am way excited to hear you all. Dad it sounds like you are going to have a busy life for the next few years. That is so cool that you are the Bishop you will do such a good job. I bet the food thing is going to change a lot. That will be so funny to come home and for my “Homecoming” have you up there on the stand with me. I hope that I get as much food from the members in my new area as it did here. We ate everyday almost with members. I will have to learn how to cook if we don’t eat a lot with the members. The food here is really bland it doesn’t have a lot of flavor at all. But I eat what there is. Oh I have to tell you I ate carpincho. It is a huge Guinea pig I tasted really good. I have a request the next package that someone sends could you send some of that camp dry stuff that makes things waterproof again, because the other day it rained and got soaked, if you could sent it that would be awesome.I can’t wait to talk to you all this coming week I love you all. Thanks for all the support and love.

Hola mi Familia
How was your week? I had a good week here, it went by really fast I can’t believe that it is already December. Time is really going by fast. This change is pretty much over, this week we have interviews, the next week we have our sector conference, and then the week after that we have changes. This change is going to be one week short because they are sending the Elders home early so they can be home for Christmas. I haven’t decided if I want to leave this area or stay here. I would like to stay but I think that I’m going to leave. One of us is going to leave either Elder McClellan or me. Can you believe that we will talk this month in a couple weeks is all. Is it alright if we do a 3 way call with Elyse so that I can talk to her also? All the Elders that come to our house think that it is funny because on the Calendar that Jodi made for me on the last day of every month it tells me how many days I have left to serve, and I have 565 days left today. We had 2 baptisms this week Antonela and Diego. They are cousins and most of there family is members but they weren’t. They both are 10 years old. We played soccer last Wednesday with all the youth in our ward it was a lot of fun. I’m not that good but I can help the team. We had 6 people in church this yesterday. It was really good because it was raining. It is really funny here because if it is raining the whole city shuts down. Not the whole city but most of it. Everyday that it rains the people make torta fritas o sea scones. They are really good but they are lacking honey butter. I haven’t received any packages yet but I think that they won’t get here until the end of the month. Congratulations Aaron you are done with school I bet that feels nice. Now when you work you are going to actually receive a pay check. I hope that it is a baby boy!Everything is going great here the weather is hot and humid and I’m not the biggest fan of humidity. I’m becoming a Latin I use axe body spray. I love you all and I’m so grateful for all the love and support that you all give to me. Keep working hard and having fun it is the trick to being happy. The scripture of the week is 2Timothey 4 verse 7 if we can all say that at the end of our live we lived a great life. I love you all. Choa Elder Tate
Hola!
¿Cómo están? Esta semana pasada fue más o menos porque no tuvimos un bautismo. Pero vamos a tener 2 o 3 bautismos esta semana que viene. GO UTES. Those pictures are AWESOME I loved them. Did Mark kill an Elk this year to if so see if you can send me the pictures? That was so much fun last year I miss hunting but I LOVE THE MISSION. We had 11 investigators in church yesterday we were so blessed. Out of those 11, 7 of them have baptismal dates is change is going to be great. We are still working with Felicio the problem we have with him is that he works on Sundays in Campaña with bees. They are harvesting the honey right now so he can’t really come to church or at least that is his excuse. Was the game crazy last week? That would have been so fun. I’m glad that they won because almost everyone is a BYU fan. How has it been having Aaron, Jodi, and Zoe living down the street? It is weird to have the whole family living so close. I bet it is a lot of fun. Is Zoe getting big? She is so cute. So this last week went by really fast I swear weeks just fly by in the mission. Can you believe that I have been on my mission for over 5 months? Crazy! My Spanish is getting good. I can have a conversion with anyone now. It is weird to be speaking a different language but way fun. The weather here isn’t too bad but it is getting hot I think that I’m getting used to it. It is hot enough that when we are sitting in lessons I can fell sweat running down my back and we have to sleep with a fan blowing on us. It is good I have some sweet tan lines. I’m so white. I'm going to try to send a package to everyone some time soon what would you all want. They have those Brazilian sandals that Aaron sent home does anyone need some? If not I’ll think of something. I love you all and I hope that everything is going great back home. Keep up the good work and always have fun. Thanks for all the support and love. I love you all. Chao Elder Tate
GO UTES
Everything is going great here in Uruguay. Right now I’m in Montevideo. I have to sign a couple of papers for my Carne de Salud, so that I can become legal. It has been really hot here but right now it is a little chilly. But yes I have been a sweaty Elder, but it isn’t just me all the Elders sweat bad. I think it is really funny because I’m becoming Latin a little. I have a thing of Axe spray deodorant and I use it sometimes, not as much as the Latinos use it. We had a good week this last week. We had a sweet family in church yesterday. We found them last Monday mas o menos and they came to church it was awesome. It is a mom and a grandma and two twins that are 11 years old. It was sweet. Also we had a baptism last Saturday. We baptized a girl named Mikaela. It was a good week. We have some good investigators that are progressing right now. Did you like the pics I sent last week? We were eating at the Carlos Gardel Hotel. It is probably the nicest place to eat in t-bo. It is so good. What happened was I was on divisions with Elder Pierce and our lunch appointment fell through so we decided to go there it was worth it. I had some grilled chicken that was so good. Don’t worry I don’t eat there every week, like once every two months or so. We don’t eat a ton of bread here but defiantly more than we eat in the States. There is bread for every meal but it isn’t like American bread it is more like a cracker thing, they are pretty good. We are going to paint a members house this Thursday morning. Pretty fun huh. We usually try to do service like once a week or so but most weeks we don’t ever have anything to do. The other services that I have done are building a chicken coop and cut weeds. I can’t wait to see real grass again. In front of the houses here all it is is weeds and they use a weed whacker to cut them. They mow their lawn with a weed whacker. It is a talent that they have. That is cool that Aaron and Jodi are going to move up this week. Are they excited? That will be really good for Elyse to have someone in the house with her. I hope that Zoe is ready for the winter. I can’t wait to get my letter next week to see who won the Big Football Game. Go Utes. You have to tell me who wins the high school championships also. I love you all and I’m so grateful for all the love and support that you give me thank you. I always pray for you and I LOVE THE GUAY. Thanks for all you do. Chao su Elder Elder Tate
I love pictures!!!
Howdy
¿Cómo Están? I hope that everything is going great. This last week went by really fast. We had Sector Conference on Tuesday and it was really good. I saw Elder Oswald it was so fun to see him and talk to him. He has lost a lot of weight. I guess that is what the Guay does to you. I think it is because we don’t eat dinner. We eat breakfast and a huge lunch and then for dinner we have a little snack. I have lost a good amount of weight also. I think I’m almost down to wrestling weight. But don’t worry I eat a ton. I don’t know how I’m loosing weight. Every Thursday we eat with Manuela and she feeds us more food than I have ever eaten EVEY WEEK. I feel like I’m going to vomit after. We had two baptisms this last Saturday, a mom Silvia and her daughter Milagros. It was really awesome to see there conversion. At first they didn’t want anything to do with the church and Silvia was smoking. We were about to drop them but we got them to come to church one time just to see what it was like. They came and it just happened to be the day we had our Stake Conference and we heard a talk by President Erying and Elder Scott. After that we had a baptism and they went to that also and from that day on the wanted to get baptized. It was so awesome.I’m staying here for at least one more change, with Elder McClellan. I am really excited because our area is going really good. Elder McClellan and I get along really good. We have some things in common he played sports in high school. He played Soccer and Volleyball. So I will be here in T-bó at least one more change. It is kind of fun the week before changes I get a little nervous because you don’t know what is going to happen. But we find out Monday night what is going to happen.Everything is going great down here the weather is HOT. I’m going to be one sweaty elder this summer. I miss the snow and mountains. Other than that I LOVE IT HERE. My Spanish is getting really good. I can communicate enough that I can say anything I just have to describe it and then they usually understand. But I understand almost all of it. I hope you all are having fun and enjoying life. I love you all. Elder Tate
Howdy
How is everyone doing? Everything is going really well here in T-bo. I can’t believe that it is already November. Time really is flying by. What did you all do for Halloween? Down here they call it día de las Brujas (day of the witches) but they don’t really do anything for it. It was kind of stupid all they do here in T-bo is go to dances which aren’t the most wholesome and they drink mate (ma tay). But everyone drinks mate here it is ridiculous. It looks like grass and all they do is put it in a cup and they have a thermal of hot water and they fill the cup and drink the water through a bombilla (the straw thing that doesn’t let the llerba get through). I’m glad I grew up in the U.S. because we actually have things to do. But the missionary work is going great. We didn’t have a baptism this week because Felicio couldn’t get off of work. But other than that everything is going great. We had 4 investigators in church and we are having a lot of fun. We are working hard and it is paying off. The weather is getting a little hot but not way bad. It is defiantly short sleeve shirt weather but some days it is a little chilly. It cools off at night a lot I have to use the blankets still. Elder Hansen told me that in the summer it is so hot at night that you have a fan on you always and still in the morning your sheets and everything is still soaked. Last summer in Artigas it was 50 degrees Celsius which is like 120 degrees Fahrenheit. You think Las Vegas is hot. Las Vegas is dry heat here it is humid. Hopefully I don’t go there for the summer. I think that I’ll stay here with Elder McClellan for one more change. But who knows. Changes are next week so P-day is on Tuesday so I will be e-mailing then. I hope everything is going great back home. We taught a lesson to a guy yesterday and he was asking where we were from and I said I was from lago salado and he had a picture of salt lake and I saw the mountains and I miss the mountains. There is no such thing as a mountain here in the Guay. Keep up the good work I love you all. I hope you are having a fun time together. Chao. Elder Tate
Go Utes
How are you doing? All is GREAT here in the Guay. I’m glad you all liked the pictures they are pretty fun. I’m going to start sending pictures over email a lot more now that I have the cords. That is pretty funny that we killed chickens last week it was one of those experiences that I will never forget. My comp did ok with it. He killed them and gutted them but he had to talk himself into doing it. It was pretty hard I had to pull as hard as I could to kill it. I think if I were to do it again I would do it like we do with the ducks and just hold the head and spin them that way. It wasn’t the lady that we built a chicken coop for. We helped a man named Miguel Florres he is the secretary in the ward. Last Wednesday he brought over some of the chicken for us to try. It was really good but not all of it was meat some of it was the stomach it was a little different but not bad. I wouldn’t choose to eat it again but if I had to I would do it. I can’t believe how fast this change is going. We are already into the fourth week crazy. Just in case I forget to tell you the last p-day of the change in on Tuesday so if you don’t get an email don’t worry it will come on Tuesday. Olga got baptized yesterday it was awesome. I love having baptisms but usually they are really stressful. Because our ward mission leader doesn’t like to do a whole lot. So it all falls on us. But it was really good. We are going to baptize Felicio (Olga’s husband) this next week it will be great. That is so cool that Donald has seats in it. But not cool at all that you haven’t had a real successful hunt yet. Remember the day after thanksgiving was the best day last year so the ducks should come in pretty soon. Or maybe it is just because I’m not there; I must be the lucky one. That is so cool that Brad can go pro. That is awesome. Is he going to play in the tournaments close to Utah or what? Dad is so lucky he always gets to go do things because of his Job. He got to go back east and do that military thing and he gets to golf at one of the nicest courses in Utah. What a Job he just plays all day. How is the wrestling team going to be this year? You have to have at least one state champ a year Mike and I started the pattern. It is getting pretty hot here. Before it rains it gets really humid and I sweat like none other I’m going to be soaked in sweat all summer long. I don’t have sun screen but they let us wear the straw hats so I’m going to buy one. My arms are as dark as they have ever been and my stomach and back are as white as they have ever been. I have the worst tan line. Some things you could send for Christmas would be maybe a new tie or something because all those ties we bought at that store in South Towne mall are pretty cheap, or a tie buddy one of those things that keep you tie from blowing in the wind. Oh one thing I do need is a new white tie. Because mine turned yellow it wasn’t supposed to get wet. Everything is going great here keep having fun and working hard. Thanks for all you do for me I love you all. Chao su Elder Elder Tate
It is hot here
I have to tell you what Elder McClellan and I did this morning. We killed chickens with a member in the ward and plucked off the feathers and gutted them and everything. It was a different experience but it was so much fun. The worst part about doing it is when we broke the chicken’s neck. All we did was grab the feet and the head and start to pull and the neck would pop and then all the sudden you would feel the head separate from the neck. It felt pretty gross. I guess that it was the closest thing that I will do to hunting since it is that season. I think the charger for robo-duck was in my desk. I don’t know where it would be know. We had a couple of investigators in church this last week. It was kind of hard because we had Stake Conference and it was in the Stake Center so it was a little farther for the people to walk. But after the conference we had a baptism. I baptized Diana Pereira. It went a lot better than the one a week ago. Our area is doing really well it is a lot of fun. The people tell me that I’m becoming a Lamanite. I already am really dark and it isn’t even summer yet. I have the worst tan line it is so funny to look at myself in the mirror. The weather here is getting hot. It is defiantly short sleeve weather. I have to tell you a story. Last Friday we were out clapping houses and we saw this old man sitting in front of his house and we thought lets go talk to him. So we went over there and started up the conversation. He didn’t want anything to do with us and was telling us to leave and so we were just going to ask for a reference to see if he knew anyone that we could stop by and visit. But he tried to just get up and walk away from us. But anyway he started to get up and he just timbered and fell over and his glasses flew off I thought for sure he was hurt. I asked podemos ayudarle and then he started yelling at us and wouldn’t let us help I felt so bad I hope he didn’t break anything. That is so cool that you met Elder Hansen. He was the biggest stud. I think he might have talked me up a little bit. But we had a lot of fun together. I do have some people ask if I am from Chile. I don’t think I talk that good but it is coming along really well. How are the Rams doing in football this year? What is Utah ranked? Or are they ranked? Everything is going really well down here in the Guay. Keep up the good work back home I’m so grateful for everything you do for me. Have fun and work hard it is the trick to life. I love you all. Tengan un buen día chao Elder Tate
P.S. I hope you like the pictures. Also I have heard that it you are going to send a package use the flat rate boxes because they usually never get opens but the others do.
I wish it would snow here!
How is everything? Everything is going great here in T-bo. Maria Rosano was baptized last Saturday. I have to tell you what happened. Hermano Sosa is our ward mission leader and he was going to fill up the font for us at 4 o’clock because the service was at 5 30. Elder McClellan and I were walking back to change into our suits and we see Hermano Sosa and he told us the there wasn’t gas to run the Califon so we weren’t going to have the baptism. But there was gas the whole time he just couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. So we went and turned it on and had the baptism an hour and a half late. It went well it was just a joke trying to get everything done. Yesterday some drunk guy was yelling at us and telling us to go back to our own country it was really funny. The weather here is getting hot. It has rained really hard here yesterday and today but I love preaching in the rain. I liked the package you sent next week I’m going to try to send some pictures. That is awesome that Aaron got a job in Utah, and they are going to be living with Elyse. She will love that. That stinks that Dad and Taylor can’t ever go duck hunting. It is because I’m not there. Is there still a little leak in Donald? Be safe and have a lot of fun on Thursday. What gun is Taylor using? He can use mine if he doesn’t have one. Our investigators are doing ok. We didn’t have a lot in church it was a huge bummer but they will come this next week. My Spanish has gotten a lot better in the last couple of weeks because I talk a lot more and understand almost all of it. I don’t understand every word but I can understand the concepts. I love speaking Spanish. I hope you can go see Elder Hansen’s homecoming. I sent my picture card home with him. Tell him thanks for all he did for me and for his great example. Have a great week and remember I love you all. Elder Tate
Another week from the Guay
How are you all doing this week? Did you like conference? I thought it was so good. I thought the talks were short though. Did you hear the talk by Elder Aidukaitis? That is what our zone conference was like for two and a half hours. I loved President Monson´s talks. So my new compainion is Elder McClellan. He is from southern California. He has been on his mission for one year. His year mark is this Friday. This is his first time being senior comp. We get along really well. We were able to teach some lessons this week with a couple of our investigators. We teach really well with each other. It is fun because now i teach a little bit more with Elder McClellan than i did with Elder Hansen. My spanish is coming along really well. I think by the time i get to call you for Christmas i will be able to speak really good. I talked with Elder Oswald the other week he is doing great. He got transfered to Rivera, so i will see him in a couple of weeks at the zone conference. The zones from Artigas, Rivera, and Tacaurembó all get together for zone conference. We had a baptism last Saturday between the sessions of conference. Daniel was baptized by Elder Hansen it was a great experience. Elder Hansen´s parents were there and i got to meet them. They are great people. I got the package you sent with them thank you. We had a couple of investigators in conference and the said they loved it. Everything is going great here. That stinks that you couldn´t go duck hunting. I think it is funny that Dad brings Taylor and Jess so he can kill 14 more ducks. Do you think Dad will get another dog? I think he should. That is awesome that Aaron is almost graduated from school. I hope he gets the job in Las Vegas or Utah. How is Ali and Taylor doing? The weather is getting hot here. It is crazy to think it is getting cold in Utah. I have heard that it gets up to 50 degrees celcius here. I´m going to sweat to death. I hope Dad´s team does well this week. I love you all thanks for all the support and love. Work hard and have fun. Tengan una buena semana. Les Amo muchisimo.

Hi Mom and Dad.
How are you guys? My P-Day is today (Wednesday). I can only write on P-Day. My companion is Elder Tross he is from Maryland. We don't have much in common but we get along great. I have seen Elder Burton and Elder Morris (from High school). I sleep good at night, I'm usually pretty tired and I sleep on the top bunk. The first days were just meetings. We room with Elder Cone and Elder Hughes they're fun. We get up at 6:30 and have to be to breakfast by 7:00. All our meals are 45 minutes long so from 7:45-11:30 is class with Hermana Willardson. Then lunch at 11:30. Class from 12:15-4:30, then dinner. 5:15-9:00 we have personal study, companion study and language study. We are in bed by 10:30. We had a devotional on Tuesday and Elder Perry, Elder Scott, Elder Holland, Elder Hales and Elder Christofferson were there. It was awesome. Elder Hales spoke on the Atonement. All is going well here. I love you guys and miss you. Don't worry about me, have fun and be the best you can.
Love,
Elder Taylor Tate
